Mission Statement
Juan Diego House is a house of formation for college-aged seminarians who are aspiring to the diocesan priesthood in Los Angeles.
Juan Diego House, with its multicultural reality, seeks to create academic, spiritual, catechetical, and liturgical environments. Within this community, the men will have the opportunity for personal human growth, authentic Christian service to others, and a deepening appreciation of the spiritual and liturgical life of the Church.
The program of formation aims to develop:
-
Christ-centered men committed to the Church, her liturgical life and social teachings, and to personal prayer;
- men with knowledge of the Catholic faith, open to others’ needs, cultures, and personalities;
- a spirit of generous service and the ability to work collaboratively for the common good.
Upon leaving Juan Diego House, the seminarian will know himself better, have a deeper understanding of what it means to be a priest, and be committed to serving God and neighbor.
General Information
Juan Diego House is a non-profit entity of the Roman Catholic Church, and operates under the auspices of the Office for Vocations of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The community of Juan Diego House is comprised of students who have qualified as seminarians for the Roman Catholic Priesthood of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Designated as seminarians, these students form a collaborative community, and live an intentional rule of life that is in conformity with Gospel values, promoting and maintaining a life style that will assist the seminarian in his growth towards personal freedom and responsibility in service to God, Church, and neighbor. This program also encourages each member of the community to accept, encourage and appreciate his own gifts and the gifts of his brothers. Incorporated into the rule of life, are the norms indicated in the Fifth Edition of the Program for Priestly Formation (PPF) of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
